In other cases we may use an expander to correct cross bites which can restore the normal relationship of the jaws, allowing normal function and can , in some cases, prevent impacting of teeth or facial asymmetry.
On occasion, permanent front teeth emerge biting on the wrong side of the teeth in the other jaw. In these cases we may use a removable appliance or a simple fixed appliance to correct the problem.
Functional appliances are also used in our practice in cases where the coordination between the top and bottom jaws is not ideal.
